A Delicate Balancing Act

Camp NaNo...

My cat.

There's a lot to juggle in July. Okay, so maybe the cat doesn't require too much juggling (plus, she gets a little irritated being tossed in the air*), but it has been a struggle this week to stay on top of everything.

I didn't do any writing last Saturday through Monday because I was out of town for the holiday. During the week, I revised two or three chapters in Visions of Darkness and wrote two scenes for my Camp NaNo project. I'm feeling incredibly behind on both projects. I only have about 6800 words for my Camp novel, so I'm WAY behind (my goal for the month is 35K, which is half of the novel). And to catch up on my revisions? I should edit three chapters tomorrow (or two Saturday and two Sunday, which is probably the more realistic plan).

I just don't know what to do! Should I forget about Camp NaNo and focus on edits? Should I put my revision on hold until I catch up for Camp? Should I continue to trudge ahead trying to do both? I really don't know. I only wrote about 800 words today and then spent the rest of the night laying on the couch watching Friends reruns. So...yeah...that happened. Heck, I almost even forgot to do this post. Basically, I'm a bit of a mess. Hmm...being stressed out seems like a bit of a theme this week. Perhaps it's the week two NaNo blues?

Anyway, I'm going to sleep on it and decide tomorrow my course of action. I have most of the weekend set aside to write, so I'll definitely work on something. Only time will tell what I work on, and how much time I'll waste watching Dr. Who on Netflix. Ooh, or having a Harry Potter movie marathon. Because, you know, that is totally productive. Really. Sorta. I guess...I'm just gonna go now.

What about you? How do you utilize your weekends? Do you write a little all week and then write a ton on the weekends? Or are you slow and steady every day? Any advice for when you're feeling stuck or unmotivated?

Talk to you all again next Friday! Hopefully next week I'll have been news to report.

*Note: I do NOT throw my cat around in the air. That was totally a joke. I am way too overprotective to do anything like that. She gets set gently back on her feet every time I pick her up. And yes, I am a cat lady. But you probably already knew that.
